Keeping New Year’s Resolutions

Are you tired of making New Year’s resolutions and a year later nothing has changed?

I don’t have the magic solution to guarantee your resolutions come true. I do have steps you can take to improve the areas of your life that you wish to change.

Create a Vision

You are continually visioning your future. If you constantly consume yourself with worry, self-doubt and negative thoughts, you can immobilize yourself and guarantee you remain stuck.  If you believe you can do something, it motivates you to take steps to create that reality.

Do you have a clear sense of direction?  Is your life the way you want it to be?  Do you have a vision of what you want?

Visualize yourself in the future with better health, better finances or your ideal relationship. Describe what you want to see in the future. Be specific, positive, evoke emotion, be in the picture and be inspiring.  Look past what you know and what you can see today. Have faith that you can move daily toward the vision of your future. Be open to positive and dramatic changes that come with having faith and taking action.
An example of visioning when faced with health issues:  I hold a vision of myself getting to the doctor’s office early, getting seen right away, being treated with respect and experiencing a sound resolution to my health concern. I make a script in my mind where I walk away feeling good about the entire experience.

Action Steps for Change

1)        Write down what you visualize your future to be.
2)        Create a vision board with pictures of what you want to create.
3)        Review your vision daily.
4)        Brainstorm doable small steps towards your visions.
5)        Take steps daily towards what you want.
6)        Repeat!!!
